Saturday 24th April
You may have already marked St George’s day but at the Piece Hall in Halifax we cordially invite you to join us on the 24th to extend your celebrations into the weekend.
The event will feature living history demonstrations within a medieval encampment. Knights and noblemen will reveal codes of chivalry and gallantry in combat. A show of medieval cooking will point out some of the realities of life in medieval England.
Investigate the truth and the myth of St George as a fearsome dragon faces up to the fearless knight. See a traditional interpretation of the St George legend as a Mummers Play is performed by the Pace Egg players from Calder High School.
Heritage walks will recount tales of ancient Halifax. If you are in the mood to take a more active role there will be a chance to build your own dragon mask or knights helmet.
