Halifax food and drink festival

Returning for its third year, bigger and better than ever, the Halifax Food and Drink Festival promises to tantalise the
taste buds and stir your senses. We present to you some of the best food and drink on offer, from local ales produced
right on your doorstep to the finest French cheese bringing international flair.

Make sure not to miss special celebrity chefs Kevin Woodford and Leslie Waters who will be taking to the stage to
showcase their cooking genius, helping the hapless in Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook and battling it out in Ready, Steady, Cook.

Doorways first birthday

To celebrate the success of Doorways first year since opening, we’d like to invite you to attend a birthday party themed afternoon of family fun and information. Pop along for a slice of birthday cake and some free advice regarding moving home, remaining independent in your own home, making your home warmer, saving money, tackling debt, getting you and your family healthier plus much more!

Doorways is Calderdale’s first one stop shop for housing, health, money and employment advice based in the Halifax town Centre. There will a chance to speak directly to the service that operates from Doorways and also a balloon modeller and magician to keep the young ones happy!

Calderdale pride

Once again the Piece Hall has the pleasure of hosting Calderdale’s Gay Pride Celebration.

Bring a picnic, a blanket, food, friends, and family and let the party roll on. Everyone is welcome so, join in and celebrate diversity in Calderdale.

Indulge yourself, make the most of selection of eating place and the licensed bar and available on site for the day. Delight in a full programme of live entertainment from the stage, quality DJ’s, artists bands speakers and children’s activities. The event will followed by an after pride party at ‘Cookies’ from 8 till late.

Cycling skills for National Bike Week

To mark National Bike Week this year the Piece Hall is teaming up with Calderdale
Road Safety and Mixenden Outdoor Centre to deliver a fun bike skills course.

You might ride for fun or for convenience, cycle to the local shops, to school, the
library or just to visit friends, but they say it is never too late to learn a new trick. Let this event be your inspiration to polish up that saddle and get on your bike this year.

Bikes and helmets will be supplied In 2010 National Bike Week aims to make
‘everyday cycling for everyone’. This year we’re challenging people to rethink their
everyday journeys and switch to cycling as the most convenient way to get around.

Armed Forces Day

Event date: 26-06-2010

Saturday 26th June

11.45am – The Veterans Parade will depart from the Town hall arriving in the Piece Hall at 12 Noon.

12.45pm – 3rd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment (Duke of Wellingtons) will be exercising its freedom of Halifax in their Freedom Parade departing from the Town Hall arriving in the Piece Hall at 1.00pm.

Armed Forces Day honours the outstanding contribution made by current members of the Armed Forces and by veterans of all ages.

This event will be an opportunity for everyone living in Calderdale to join together through the streets of Halifax and the Piece Hall, to pay tribute to our Armed Forces past, present and future.

Music, parades stalls and information, served up with all the pomp and ceremony warranted to those who sacrifice so much.
