There are also bona fide pop stars such as Robbie Williams\, All Saints and Texas\, all of whom Hawley has played with in differing capacities down the years. Also\, his song Tonight The Streets Are Ours was featured in The Simpsons and Exit Through The Gift Shop: A Banksy Film. \nHis appearance in Halifax promises to be a special show from a musician that has a knack for creating poignant and powerful songs like ‘Tonight the streets are ours’ and ‘The Ocean’. He is joined by 6 Music darling John Grant\, Stephen Fretwell & Studio Electrophonique. \nEssential Information\nUnder 14’s must be accompanied. No under 6’s. \nCOVID protocols can be viewed here.

SUMMARY:Fantastical Flying Machines
DESCRIPTION:Fantastical Flying Machines Workshop\nDiscover the curious true story of the first ever hot air balloon flight with author Moira Benoit who will read her fantastic children’s book ‘Rooso Takes to the Sky’ with a touch of performance and costume. Follow in the footsteps of inventor Joseph-Michel and join illustrator Louis Benoit in designing and drawing your very own fantastical flying machine! \nMORIA BENOIT \nOn leaving Glasgow School of Art\, Moira followed a career in theatre design\, and while researching for a play for children she came across a series of interesting and amusing true events leading to the first hot air balloon flight at Versailles in 1783. Ultimately it led to a rather wonderful\, informative and funny book; Rooso Takes to the Sky. Moira has designed for Selfridges\, Phoenix Dance Company\, Northern Broadsides and The Wakefield Mystery Plays. \nLOUIS BENOIT \nLouis was a finalist of The Guardian’s Young Cartoonist of the Year\, 2017 and winner of The Hoffman Art Prize 2018. He graduated from The Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 2011 and has exhibited at The Artworks\, Halifax\, The Artsmill\, Hebden Bridge\, Gallery on the Corner\, Edinburgh\, and The Stafford Gallery\, London. His animated film Goat on a Scooter\, gained critical acclaim at film festivals worldwide including Krakow\, Orlando\, Rome and Birmingham. \nESSENTIAL INFORMATION \nWorkshops lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes and take place at 10.30am and 1pm. \nChildren must be accompanied by an adult. SUMMARY:Hidden Histories: Deeds Not Words
DESCRIPTION:HIDDEN HISTORIES: DEEDS NOT WORDS\n‘I went to gaol a rebel but I have come out a regular terror.’ Halifax born Laura Annie Willson was twice imprisoned in 1907 for her actions in support of women’s suffrage. \nDuring her campaigning she encountered violent assaults and threats but she was never deterred and declared\, ‘If they could sentence me for thinking I’d have been sentenced for life.’ \nThroughout her life Laura Annie followed the suffragette motto of ‘deeds not words’. When she saw the need for change she did something about it! \nDeeds not Words tells the story of the suffragette years of this truly remarkable woman; mill girl\, agitator\, engineer\, innovator\, house-builder – and MBE. \nHidden History uses theatre to bring to life the historical stories of the locations they are performed within.
