This impressive building\, the UKs only remaining Georgian cloth hall\, was in a different league to other cloth halls\, attracting manufacturers and merchants from all over Europe. Its weekly market was ideal for serving the needs of small-scale woollen clothiers\, and when The Piece Hall opened in 1779\, the bell was rung at 10am on a Saturday morning to mark the start of trade for merchants and buyers. You can now relive this tradition of the past. \nUpon arrival at The Piece Hall you will be greeted at the Visitor Centre before heading to The Map Room where you will ring the bell at 10am to mark the start of the trading day\, before being presented with a certificate and a Piece Hall guide book. \nAfter working up an appetitie from bell ringing you will enjoy a delicious Blondin’s belly busting breakfast. \nAfter bell ringing you are welcome to explore the Piece Hall at leisure. \nAvailable on Saturday mornings only. \nWhat’s included? \n\nA visit to The Map Room to ring the Piece Hall bell to mark the start of trading for the day\nPresentation of a certificate to celebrate your bell ringing along with a Piece Hall guide book\nA Blondin’s belly busting breakfast for two guests\nA tea or coffee per person served in a Piece Hall souvenir mug which is then yours to keep as a memento\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Sandy Summer Daze\nJoin us for a free family Halifax staycation event. Come to The Piece Hall and enjoy the sand between your toes\, the sounds of the beach and an ice-cream or two as our giant courtyard is transformed into a beachfront with traditional attractions to bring a seaside holiday atmosphere to West Yorkshire. \nSandy Summer Daze features a beach area with deckchairs for parents and children together with buckets & spades\, a colourful beach hut\, games\, two carousel rides*\, a peep-through display and giant deckchair for photo memories of a family day out beside the seaside. \nThis is a free event but booking is essential. \nThe beach area will be open from 10am – 5.15pm each day with free entry for ticket holders. Families can book a 1 hour session throughout the day to relax and have fun in the sand. \nA SEND session is available on Thursday 28 July at 9.15am – 10.30am – this session is for children with special educational needs or disabilities. This session will take place earlier in the day when The Piece Hall is usually less busy to create a quieter environment. Background music will be turned off. The capacity for this session is less than our other sessions to allow more space for your children to play.
