Pictures with a humorous twist. From 1792 to the 21st century.
Off the Wall stock an eclectic mix of prints, illustrations and original artwork with pictures that add humour and spice to our view of the world – for that different and distinctive present. There are no copies or modern reproductions/reprints – Off The Wall is all about sourcing original artwork and prints of their period.
Starting with James Gilray in the 18th Century (during the Heyday of The Piece Hall’s life as a wool trading hall), taking in household names like William Heath Robinson, EH Shepard, HM Bateman, Larry, Gerald Scarfe and Glen Baxter and lesser known (at least nowadays) names like David Low, Casque, Tom Browne, Max Beerbohm, Frank Reynolds, Bert Thomas and Lewis Baumer.
Featuring cricket, politics and public life, winter sports, schooldays, racing, motoring, love and marriage, golf, railway travel – in fact all parts of human life and the human condition that are ripe for ridicule!
